Shine bright like a diamond

The glow is in and taking over the beauty world. The better the highlighter the better the makeup look.

I have to admit that my highlighter skills are not that fantastic, I am working on it and getting there but I am not the best. There are many types of highlighters that come in many different colours and levels of shine. Then there are liquid illuminators which go under one’s foundation. This is the part that leaves me very confused because it never seems to shine once the foundation is on over it.

NYX Born To Glow liquid illuminator is a light pink liquid made to help one have that natural shine.

On the NYX site, this product has a 4.8/5 review. Many saying that they use this daily and that it is luxurious on the skin. On the site there are four colours to pick from, I have the lightest one which is a shiny baby pink. The product instructions state one can use it all over their face before applying foundation or over foundation on the parts you want a little extra shine.

One can buy this from Clicks for R150.00.

The first time I used this I did not find it to be very amazing. I was actually rather let down by the end result. However the second time I used it I put it over my foundation and this had an effect that wowed me. My upper check was so nice and shiny, totally made me feel like that cool insta girl.

At the end of the day, I would not rate this as being one of my favourites. I  think I am more of a powder girl when it comes to my highlighter. I like this as more of a primer than a highlighter.

I’m glad you did an honest review! Reviews on the product websites can be so unreliable. I think I’ll skip this highlighter 🙂 Thank you!

I really like NYX as a brand but I haven’t tried this highlighter. I like the sound of it but would probably use it under a foundation, as more of a primer to add glow than as a highlighter. xx

Thanks for the review! I am looking for a cream highlighter to use as a base for a powder highlighter. If you layer them you get a super glow!

Great review! I think I’d also tend to use this as a primer instead as it’s very similar to a Sephora one that I have 🙂 I like my powder highlighter as well!

I have only stick to powder highlighters so far but have been curious about liquids. Thanks for the honest review!

I absolutely LOVE NYX! I haven’t heard of this product though! I completely agree with powder highlighter over liquid though! xx

I have always found highlighters and illuminators to be the most difficult makeup item to find a good one. I find mixing foundation and illuminators work best for me, I haven’t tried this but it is a shame that it didn’t completely work for you as NYX is such a great affordable brand!

I’m really not a highlighter person and definitely not a liquid anything! The thought of trying liquid highlighters etc scare the eyelashes off of me! Thanks for sharing x

Thanks for the honest review! It’s a shame you didn’t love this but to be honest I think I’m the same – I way prefer powder highlighters; often the liquid ones just make me look oily!

I found that powder ones just give so much more of a sparkle

Along with every little thing which seems to be developing inside this particular subject matter, many of your perspectives are very exciting. On the other hand, I am sorry, because I do not give credence to your whole strategy, all be it refreshing none the less. It seems to me that your comments are not completely validated and in actuality you are generally yourself not really wholly confident of your assertion. In any event I did enjoy looking at it.
