Cosmo hustle 2018
A week back I got to experience a very different event which really opened my eyes to the influencer industry in South Africa. Cosmopolitan hosted an event where South African influencers spoke about the realities of the industry and what they have had to do to get to where they are today. My overall opinion of Cosmo Hustle 2018 was that it was really worth it and what I learnt will be helpful in making my dreams become a reality.
I was extremely nervous about going to attending an event by myself is something very outside of my comfort zone. Of course being who I am I was there early which did not help my nerves. The start of the event was a very lovely breakfast buffet which was great as it gave people a chance to interact and meet new people. I met two very lovely ladies who I learnt a lot from through the conversations we had throughout the day. I have to say that the breakfast was very impressive, there was fruit, smoothies, muffins and lovely pastries. I was not expecting such an amazing buffet.
The goodie bag
When we were allowed into the hall there were goodie bags on our chairs that totally blew my mind. I was not expecting such a high-quality bag of gifts. In the bad was a very good quality umbrella from Guess as well as a Guess magazine and a voucher for R500 off if one spend R2000 at Guess. Then there was a lipstick from 3ina a brand I can not wait to get to know better. A selfie light which I’m not sure ill use but I still feel it is useful. Aprils issue of Cosmo was in the bag too as well as a notebook and pen. There was also a bottle of wine which I look forward to opening soon.
The speakers and lunch
I was very impressed by the speakers as they spoke very well and they covered a wide area of knowledge. We got to hear about what a brand looks for when looking into influencers and then hear from three influencers what they have had to do to get to where they are today. It was so nice to hear about South African people who are being so successful in an industry that is very much so filled with people from the UK and US.
During lunch time we got to walk around and I spent some time at the 3ina brand, a separate post will be coming soon on there makeup. Once again I was blown away by the food, the vegetarian food that they offered was amazing and so were the hamburgers. We also got to taste the champagne and wine from the vineyard that was sponsoring the event.
My overall opinion
At the end of the day, I was totally amazed by the quality of the event. The ticket was R150.00 and it included breakfast and lunch, a goodie bag, four speakers, the chance to try some makeup out and the valuable opportunity to interact with new people. Just from my experience with this event, I will for sure be attending future Cosmo events.
