Starting over

From binge eating to no eating. From high fat to no fat. From gluten to gluten-free. From carb free to high carb. Over the years I have tried them all. I have done the no this and the extra that but never been successful. Most of my failure was due to my depression, food was the only thing that made me feel good so it was hard to stick to any diet.

Weight has always been an issue in my life and it has gotten to the point where something has to be done. I do not feel like hashing over the past and all that because well it’s in the past and I am looking forward.

I went to a dietician and was given a diet, I stuck to this diet and exercised and did all the right things. At the end of the day, I gained weight… A LOT of weight.  I went back and now have a new diet which is a rather big challenge. I am pre-diabetic which means my body doesn’t use or make insulin in the right way.

The new diet

My new diet basically is just vegetables and protein. I have to take out all processed food and all carbs which when you do that there is not that much left. I have to fast three days a week, so I just do not eat until lunchtime, it really is not that bad.  The fasting helps to teach the body to use the energy and fat that is has stored. No eating in the first hour of waking up, this is bad for anyone, due to insulin levels. Vegetables that grow underground or are a squash have to be limited a lot, so much so that I can hardly eat any. Obviously no sugar but I can have pure honey and xylitol if I really need.  Dark chocolate is allowed, thank the pope that some chocolate is allowed. No fruit, well not no I am allowed so little a day it is basically none. No chutney, tomato sauce, salad dressings and any other bought sauce.

Its a shock

Cutting out so much and changing so much is a shock. I am in a way rather excited as I think it will not only help me lose the weight but it will help me to live a better life. Its hard when living with others to make your own meals and be so strick with what you eat and how much.

Plan of action

For two weeks I will follow the diet that I have been given and I hope that within those two weeks a change will be seen. Just so I know that I am doing the right thing.

I will then carry on with my goal of gym 5 to 6 times a week.

Lunches will be made ahead of time so that they are healthy and enough.

I will stick to my 2 litres of water a day. This does not include all the tea and coffee.

How this will change my blogging

This will change my blogging in the manner that I will be posting recipes now, battles and achievements. I will share what works and what does not.
