Eco Showering

About a month and a half ago we put in a grey water system. I first thought that it was such an awesome idea, I still do, but I did not realize the amount of work behind it. Everything has to change, you have to be so aware of what products you let go down the drain. What is also very hard is many companies claim to be eco friendly until you read all the ingredients only to find that they are not.

We found a site called Organic Worx, which is a South African based site that offers many eco friendly products and organic food. On this site, we found the first shampoo and conditioner that we decided to put to the test.  Here is their site if you want to check it out – Organic Worx

I have to admit that it was a total shock for me to try these products. I am used to rich creamy products that make my hair feel like a velvet carpet.

Enchantrix shampoo and conditioner

The facts about the brand

  • They contain certified organic ingredients
  • They are a cruelty-free brand ( they have the bunny on their products)
  • Both shampoo and conditioners are vegan
  • Packaging is completely recyclable

This was the first brand we tried. The shampoo works but the conditioner, oh golly me was that a disaster.  The shampoo cleans one’s hair and leaves it smelling very natural. I find that I do have to use double what I would normally have to use. I also find that it does make my hair feel rather straw-like but that is fine if you have a conditioner that can moisturize the hair.

This conditioner was awful, it did nothing at all. I put it into my hair, I had to use a lot to get it all over my hair, then left it in (like a normally would) well I washed my body. When I went back to brush my hair, which gets very tangled, curly hair problems, my brush got stuck. This does not work at all if you have hair that gets tangled up. It was a very painful task trying to detangle my hair.

It is all a test and succeed or fail kinda job trying to find eco-friendly products. I would not recommend this conditioner but the shampoo works.

The cost of the shampoo is R73.00 for 500ml and the conditioner is the same price as the shampoo. Cost wise they are not badly priced compared to other brands.

You can buy straight from the company itself – Enchantrix

You can buy from Faithful to Nature

Or you can buy from Organix Worx

That’s great that the brand has certified organic ingredients and that they’re cruelty free! Hopefully more companies will be cruelty free in the future – and that’s so cute that they have a bunny on their products! They seem really eco friendly – especially with recyclable packaging! Oh wow that conditioner was just a pile of nope – but at least the shampoo worked out for you though, so that’s good!!

Great review, I think it’s always good to try new products that are eco-friendly. It’s hard to let go of the shampoo and conditioner that I always use, though. Hopefully I’ll try the shampoo out soon.

This sounds awful! My hair is quite dry so this would be an absolute disaster! Good luck finding another eco-friendly alternative x

I must admit I know nothing about this type of shower, it does sound interesting though. I really hope you are able to find something that works for you though. I will keep on the look out for you.

That’s great that the brand is cruelty free! But that’s too bad that the conditioner didn’t really work. Great review!

Aw that’s a shame the conditioner didn’t work very well as the brand sounds great being organic, vegan and cruety free. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and hope you find a better one soon 💖 xx
