NARS Powermatte lip pigment review
The NARS powermatte lip pigment is a liquid lipstick that is made for all lips. The website states that this is a long lasting, quick dry matte lipstick that is smudge resistant. It has a 4.5 start rating on their site and retails for 26 dollars. There are 20 shades making it available to a wide range of people.
My cousin bought this via Sephora and told me how disappointed she was with the product. The color was not what she thought she was getting and the transfer was awful. She was kind enough to let me give it a try and here is what I think about it.
Before I get into my thoughts let me share some thoughts and reviews from some other trusted sites.
Allure magazine states that it is a “very very pigmented” lipstick and “layers seamlessly.”
Instyle says“a narrow, pointed doe foot applicator that simplifies tracing the edges of your lips.”
Then when reading reviews on the Sephora site I came to see that there were a large number of people saying things like “smudges like crazy,” “not transfer proof” and “never dried down.” What has left me confused is there are 3 times as many positive reviews as negative reviews. I cant help but wonder if maybe there is a lack of consistency in the product.
My thoughts and review
Lets start with the packaging which of course, as usual, NARS has done beautifully. The matte black finish is fantastic, and the size is great for holding. The applicator is lovely and small making it easy to get on the lips neatly. The look of the product is classic and it feels like a luxury buy.
The product itself is very watery in my opinion, I did find that I had to make sure to get off as much extra product as I could before I let it touch my lips. I also found that it took a long time to dry, once it was dry was matte looking. One thing I have enjoyed is that it does not feel dry on the lips. Sadly, I did find transfer to be an issue, I got a redish stain on my coffee mug, my hand some how and on my shirt. I am very disappointed at how easily it comes off on to other things. When you are paying this much money you want it to last.
This is the color vain and it is described as being a brick red however I see it as being almost a black red.
Over all I love the feel of this product and the way it makes my lips look. However, I do not like the transfer and feel that the advertising is misleading.
Here is my cup of coffee I had about an hour after putting on this lipstick
